Oh, postpartum hair loss—what a wild ride it is! Let me start by saying I had thick hair before I got pregnant. Like, the kind of thick where hair ties would snap if I so much as thought about putting my hair in a ponytail. During pregnancy, my hair got even thicker, like it was auditioning for a Pantene commercial. All those hormones put my hair in beast mode, making it so thick that I had to upgrade to heavy-duty hair ties just to keep it under control.

But now, here I am, almost five months postpartum, and my hair is staging a dramatic exit. Seriously, it’s like brushing a husky in the springtime—there’s hair everywhere! I’m talking clumps, people. It’s as if my scalp decided it was done with the whole “thick hair” thing and is now shedding like it’s got somewhere better to be.

So, if you see me and wonder if I’ve been in a fight with a shedding dog, just know that this is postpartum reality. It’s like my hair is taking a victory lap after the pregnancy marathon, and I’m left with enough shed strands to knit a small scarf. Hormones, you sure know how to keep things interesting!
